From The Image Shoppe: Weird Thanksgiving Traditions

Thanksgiving is upon us.

Sure, we have a lot to be thankful for, but we don't roll with the generic around here. We like to get a little weird, if you haven't noticed our quirks by now ; ). This Thanksgiving, we'd like to open up about some of our weirdest Thanksgiving traditions, because let's be real—we've all got 'em.

Gobble up this kookiness...

"Instead of turkey, my grandma would always make 'Chicken Ham Birds,' the Yooper way of saying Cornish Hens." -Aaron

"Every single year my uncle Larry came to Thanksgiving, he would take a bite of pie and say, 'Well, isn’t that just so good that you want to piss your pants?' It didn’t matter what kind of pie, if it was homemade or store-bought, sugar-free or what." -Casey

"No matter what we were eating, there were always tortillas. Sometimes my mom sets out mashed potatoes, turkey, green beans, sweet potato casserole, and tortillas. It doesn’t really fit in with the meal, but it wouldn’t be Thankgiving without them!" -Emily

"When I was on duty, there was a large Thanksgiving spread in the Mess Hall, but the line was way too long and there were things to be done. So my Thanksgiving meal that year consisted of ramen noodles." -Eric

"For the last 7 years, our family tradition has been to go out to dinner the night before Thanskgiving for dinner with the family… of course to Bistro Bella Vita, The Green Well or Grove." -KT

"My grandma makes Brazilian stuffing instead of 'traditional' stuffing." -Lissa

"My dad used to give my sister and I an old 50 cent piece if we 'whitewashed' our faces in the snow." -Mark

"There's always something a little *off* about the Topalian Thanksgiving, whether it's Uncle Steve doing a number from Mary Poppins, the moms getting a little tipsy and re-enacting SNL skits, or me puking from eating too much shrimp. I love my family." -Natalie

"My parents and grandparents never drank booze, so all we had for beverages were iced tea, water, and whole milk. Can't say it's the same today." -Rob

"Every Thanksgiving my family gets together and plays Rummikub until our eyes fall out. My mom never wins but she is obsessed with playing…" -Sean

"After dinner all us kids would go smoke cigarettes and drink beer, the oldest grownups went to play games, and most of the moms watched football or took naps in the living room while the dad’s did the dishes and cleaned up. Wait, that might be out of order." -Troy

What are some of your bizarre Thanksgiving traditions? We'd love to hear about them! Happy Thanksgiving. : )
